CIE PROJET 26 is a contemporary performing arts company founded by Eugenia Carnevali, choreographer, dancer, actress, and performer, and Fernando Ferrer, playwright and stage director. Based in Billère, in the Pyrenees region of France, Cie Projet 26 develops research and creative projects between Europe and Latin America, at the crossroads of contemporary dance, physical theater, and performance art. The central axis of its research lies in the body as a sensitive archive: a space where individual and collective memories, territorial traces, imaginaries, and invisible narratives are inscribed. From this perspective, Projet 26 conceives creation as a process of poetic excavation, where gesture, voice, and presence activate strata of time, history, and fiction. The company's processes rely on writing, improvisation, physical training, instant composition, and dramaturgical work—not merely as formal tools, but as genuine research mechanisms. Here, the body becomes a site of friction between dance and theater, between the ritual and the contemporary, and between the intimate and the political. Cie Projet 26’s projects are oriented toward the connection between body, territory, and memory. They carry a particular interest in intangible heritage, mythology, and intercultural processes, viewing them as living sources for contemporary performance creation. Alongside its artistic creations, Cie Projet 26 develops educational and outreach initiatives, considering physical training as a space for learning, experimentation, and the production of new stage languages.
Artistic Directors
Eugenia Carnevali
She is an Argentine choreographer, dancer, actress, performer, and educator born in Patagonia. Trained in classical and contemporary dance at IUPA and Teatro General San Martín in Buenos Aires, she has developed an international artistic career spanning over twenty years across Europe, Latin America, the United States, and Indonesia. Her work exists at the crossroads of contemporary dance, physical theater, and performance art. She has collaborated with major institutions such as the Centre Chorégraphique National de Strasbourg, the Opéra national du Rhin, and the San Francisco International Arts Festival. As a creator of numerous works and several shows with the company Estro, she also works with various companies in the southwest of France, as well as for cinema and television. Simultaneously, she conducts research around Argentine tango as both a social practice and an improvisation tool. Committed to transmission, she teaches at TAI – Universidad de Artes Escénicas de Madrid and intervenes as a choreographer with Scène nationale Espaces Pluriels in Pau.
Fernando Ferrer
He is a playwright, director, and educator with over twenty years of experience in contemporary theater. Author and director of more than thirty shows presented in Argentina, Europe, and Latin America, he develops work that explores the links between memory and the contemporary, in a constant dialogue between text, body, and contemporary stage devices. Trained at the National School of Dramatic Art in Buenos Aires, and later in dramaturgy with Javier Daulte and Ricardo Monti, he has received numerous awards, including the Prix Teatro del Mundo, a Special Mention from the Instituto Nacional del Teatro d’Argentine, and a Williams Foundation grant for the creation of a contemporary opera at the Teatro Colón. His creations have been presented at major international festivals such as FIBA, the Ibero-American Festival of Cadiz, the Gdańsk Shakespeare Festival, and MAPAS Tenerife. Parallel to his artistic work, he develops significant pedagogical work between Europe and Latin America and currently teaches in Madrid, notably at TAI and El Umbral de Primavera.
